The Isle of Wight Patriots have donated four fully equipped survival packs to support military veterans in need, following the success of their recent Wrapping Up community initiative.
The survival packs were handed over at The Veteran Pub in Ryde by Dan Brett, Stuart watson and Daniel Bailey of the Isle of Wight Patriots. The donation was received by Dale Hillier, on behalf of The Veteran Ryde, where the packs will be distributed directly to veterans facing hardship.
The packs were funded through donations from generous locals, as well as members of the Isle of Wight Patriots, who have so far raised £610 to purchase and assemble essential equipment. Volunteers worked together to ensure each pack provides practical, real-world support.

Each survival kit contains:
A 100L Bergen rucksack
Sleeping bag
Winter jacket
Thermal trousers
Thermal socks
Gloves
Hand warmers
Balaclava
Rechargeable torch
Solar-powered charger
The Wrapping Up initiative was launched to turn community generosity into tangible support for those most in need during the colder months, with a particular focus on dignity, warmth, and personal safety.
The Isle of Wight Patriots have confirmed that they intend to continue and expand Wrapping Up, with the aim of assembling and donating further survival packs as more funds are raised. Donations can be made via the group’s GoFundMe page, with links available on their website.
Alongside Wrapping Up, the group is also running Neighbours Helping Neighbours, a volunteer-led initiative offering free practical support to elderly, unwell, or vulnerable residents across the Isle of Wight. This includes help with shopping, small household tasks, basic tech support, and friendly check-ins.
The Isle of Wight Patriots are committed to positive, practical action across the Island, working alongside local organisations and residents to strengthen communities and support those who need it most.
